Seeking the Dragon
Exhibition dates: 6 -29 November
Opening Friday 6 November 6-8 pm
The Chinese word for dragon is the same as for topography. This means both the form and dynamic of the landscape. These paintings aim to connect with and project the physical energy of the landscape. My paintings are plein air abstract improvisations constructed with materials selected from their sites. For example, I work with slate, clay, charcoal, ash, ochres, sand, crushed rock, sap and found and recycled objects. These materials combine to evoke the sensory properties of the landscape.
